Update!

Ok so this weekend marks 6 weeks without sugar or simple carbs and 4 weeks into my diet! I have had no bread, no potatoes, no pasta...and....I feel good!I actually feel great!

Yesterday brought about great news! My triglycerides are normal and I have lost 21 pounds! 8 were in the first couple weeks and I think most of it was water but the last 4 weeks has taken off 13 pounds! YAY! I've also lost some inches, even better!

I love this plan I am really learning to eat healthy and it is a great feeling! I'm sorry the updates are too far apart but I'll be better now that I see results...LOL!

WOW! Life changes ahead...

OK so I have been MIA for a while now. Catching up after getting better has been complicated. AND I have some major changes that I should discuss here! While I was sick I went to the doctor and since I was new to him I went through a variety of what my abnormalities are...LOL! He ordered a series of lab tests and told me I had the flu!

Well last Thursday I went back to him for a follow up and he informed me I had dangerously high triglycerides. The high end of normal is 150 mine were 411!!!! He did reorder the lab test because he thinks the results may have been scewed by how sick I was. But either way it is likely still not normal. So the doctor said.....no more than 30gm of carbs per day NO bread, NO pasta, NO potatoes, NO sugar, basically NO simple carbs.....WOW! HE also said no more than 1522 calories per day and that I need to lose 30 pounds in the next 4-5 months. No pressure right?

So I left sad and feeling like I was facing something I could not really do. Then Karl's roommate told me about a diet he had heard about and in the last week I have taken the necessary steps to start this diet! It is personalized and based on my blood tests! Today is day 1....

It is going to be hard but my health is worth it! Wish me luck!!!!

I know I'm strange but today reminds me thoroughly! I am SICK. I stayed home from work yesterday thinking I had a little 24 hour bug. Then got up this morning and off to work I went...every passing hour showed me that my body was not raising to the challenge I gave it by stepping out of bed this morning. So about 3 pm I came home and hit the couch.

Since then my body has continued to betray me and I have gotten substantially worse. I hate being sick. I worry about getting behind in work and I also start to feel SO useless. So much so that I decided if I couldn't work at least I could vacuum....WRONG!

My muscles ache like I just had a trainer kick my butt around in the gym. I will not be going to work tomorrow. Maybe I can take NyQuil all day so I don't feel so anxious while "resting".

Well that's my vent of the day...

I went to a high tea yesterday. It was nice! My Mom is here and having her go with me was a wonderful experience. Just having her here is awesome! It is interesting how similar and different we are! Guess that's normal.

The last few days have been weird my mood hasn't been the best but I know that will turn around! I am going to Las Cruces on Thursday and I can't wait...I miss it! Funny how my college town really became HOME. Guess when you go to college as long as I did you should expect that! I sure wish Las Cruces had better employment options....I sometimes wish I had stayed and kept looking but I do love my job.

Mom just left we sure had a great weekend! I hope I have her energy at that age! Funny when I decided to blog I thought I'd have SO much to say and while I do I find myself questioning f anyone would want to read my goofy thoughts. But I guess if you don't you just click a button and to another page you go! You can go far quickly online. Too bad driving 317 miles takes 5 hours. I miss Karl so very bad today.

I am working on getting back in shape. Hard to believe I let myself lose control...I am really one of those people who has to learn the hard way!!! And that goes for WAY more than just my workout routine. Oh well....better late than never!

I really should be going to the store but I am enjoying my couch. I also have to get on the elliptical for today's workout! That part I'll enjoy! But the decrease of food intake NOW that is the hard part....girl likes to eat! But I'll get it done. My health is worth it. (that is said in a VERY cynical voice)

Well until next time!

Blogging huh? Why not!

Blogging huh? Well I have decided to write my thoughts down. If you know me you already know the reason, at least the main one. I talk....A LOT and I have a horrible habit of overwhelming conversations with people. I don't know really why I do it but I do. It bothers me and makes me seem selfish which everyone is a little selfish but I consider myself very giving.

Well so I am thinking that typing/blogging my thoughts will keep me from boring people with my randomness but still satisfy my need to day things. I should warn anyone reading:
- I repeat myself a lot and I can't imagine that switching to a written form of telling the story will change that.
- I am hard on myself and don't hid my feelings or mood very well. When I am mad you will know or sad, happy, anxious etc. This is something I'd like to work on.
- I will share personal things - that's how I work.
- I plan to just type my thoughts so somethings may be confusing.
- I am not a great writer - sorry!

There are other reasons for the blogging too! I feel like there are life issues that I need to explore to decide how I really feel about them AND I hear that writing your feeling help with that - hear goes nothing! I need to improve my typing to. I do not touch type I am dependent on looking t the keyboard and I have a job where I type a lot.

Now the title of my Blog...Lara's Thoughts - Bringing it down a notch! Well all my life people have used MANY different phrases to tell me to BE QUIET! I am loud you see and I have been told to turn it down, use my "inside voice", whisper, keep it down, and of course bring it down a notch! Well when I type I can't be too loud....so this is me....bringing it down a notch!

Well that takes care of my introduction....I look forward to this journey!
